I think that mascara is one of the most essential make up items. Mascara can add boldness to any make up look and it can make eyes look more awake. It’s a great product that can be worn alone too. Mascara is one of those products that I feel completes a make up look, whether that be simple or bold. As someone who has fair skin and light hair when I first started wearing make up mascara was one of the things I found scary to wear and something I thought that I could not pull off. But as the years have gone on mascara is a product I can’t go without. I have six mascaras in rotation at the moment, three high end and three drugstores mascaras that are exact dupes for them.
High End Mascaras
Lights, Camera, Lashes by Tarte Cosmetics
I have this mascara in mini form. It is absolutely amazing and for a mini mascara is easy to apply as the as the bristles don’t take entire wand. This thickens and adds volume to my lashes and lasts all day with out smudging.
Roller Lash by Benefit Cosmetics
This mascara has a thin plastic applicator, which is amazing at applying the mascara from the base of your lashes to tip of your lashes. It lengthens lashes and opens up my eyes and makes me look more awake. Great for days when I’m feeling tired.
Better than Sex by Too Faced
This mascara is much like the Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes as it both adds volume and thickens my lashes, it does an amazing job at doing so. But I would recommend to get the full size mascara as I have the mini version of it and the brush applicator takes up most of the wand which makes it a bit difficult to apply. But the mascara itself is amazing so it is worth investing in the full size product rather than the mini.
All Eyes on Me by Essence Cosmetics
This was the first mascara the I feel in love with and being under $5 makes it my holy grail mascara. This mascara does it all, it lengthens, gives volume, thickens and separates lashes. This mascara is waterproof and does not budge all day. It makes my lashes look effortless and flawless. This mascara is a dupe for Tarte’s Light Camera Lashes mascara.
Get Big Lashes (Volume Boost) by Essence Cosmetics
This mascara is a dupe for the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. It has a big bristles and gives the most amazing volume and thickens lashes plus doesn’t clump at all. It is also waterproof and stays in place all day and is under $6.
Lavish Lashes by Coral Colours
This mascara is a dupe for Benefits Roller Lash. This is a lengthening mascara, it has plastic bristles and is super easy to apply and lasts all day. It is under $10, great for anyone on a budget.
I’d have to say at the moment my favourite one to use is my Tarte Lights Camera Lashes as it is my most recent addition to the collection. I am so happy that I have found dupes for my high end mascaras. It really shows that all there are great mascaras out there to fit any budget and some even do a better job than their more expensive counterparts.
As much as I love using these mascaras and will always go back to them there are a few mascaras I want to try.
- Bad Gal Bang by Benefit Cosmetics
- Selfie Lash by Tanya Burr Cosmetics
- The Shock Mascara by YSL
